On Saturday 13th September one of the St Andrew’s congregation took on a painful challenge.
Stuart is 81 and really struggles to walk for any length of time. He has a medically diagnosed thrombosis which causes cramping of his muscles after only a short distance. He also suffers from an unpredictable, untreatable sprained right ankle so walking over steep gradients and rough terrain is really tough.
He usually has to stop about 6 times to ease the discomfort before he can carry on, but was willing to go through all this pain to raise money for Project Beacon. Luckily the weather was kind to him on the day and he completed his non-stop 1 mile walk in 50 minutes.
Stuart also worked hard to publicise his challenge and ensure that it raised as much money as possible. He has raised just over £800 for Project Beacon and we are extremely grateful for all his hard and painful work.
