Local MP Supports Project Beacon

We were very pleased to welcome Robbie Moore, the MP for Keighley and Ilkley, to St Andrews Church on Friday 18th October. He met with trustees Greg Thomson and Liz Ford to discuss the Project Beacon plans. As someone who has trained as an architect, Robbie was really interested in the design drawings and had lots of questions and ideas.

It was interesting to hear him compare our project with other large-scale building projects being planned in the area. Although £ 5 million seems like an enormous amount to us, it’s very small scale compared to the redevelopment of Airedale Hospital or the proposed foot bridge in Silsden/Steeton.

He described the plans as “incredible with huge potential to upgrade the church into an incredible space for worship and community events for generations to come”. He posted about the project on his social media accounts, including links to our website and donation pages. He has also kindly sent us a letter of support.
