Howard Carter

Howard, our dear friend and valued colleague, completed his earthly journey on 19 December 2024. He had fought a long and courageous battle with that insidious disease, cancer.

Howard was a founder member of the Buildings Steering Group (BSG) from its beginning, over 6 years ago. He subsequently became a trustee of Church on the Green Neighbourhood Foundation upon its incorporation in December 2020.

Howard’s time, business acumen, wide network of connections and financial support were always made available with the utmost liberality. His generosity of spirit particularly came to the fore during group discussions, where he never held grudges against those who occupied a different position, though privately he may have been frustrated beyond measure!

Howard believed fervently in what became known as Project Beacon from the outset. He never lost that belief, nor his commitment to it. Underpinning all of this was his unwavering faith as a Christian. Even when he wasn’t well enough to attend BSG or Trustees meetings, he wanted copies of agendas and papers for those meetings, so that he could pray as we worked through the business.

We didn’t just value Howard for what he gave; we loved and respected him for who he was, a man of principle and tenacity, with a drive to improve things for everyone, particularly in his local Keighley community.
He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
