What a great evening at St Andrew’s on Friday 17th October as we gathered for the Project Beacon “Raise the Roof” concert! Liz Ford welcomed a large audience and introduced the first performer, our own Adam Webster.
Adam’s confidence and engaging energy-filled performance set the tone for the evening with renditions of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “I’m Still Standing” getting everyone’s feet tapping.
Jo & Jacob continued the entertainment with their guitar and vocal combination. Popular favourites “Gladrags and Handbags” and “Holding out for a Hero” added to the momentum of the event before the interval with the chance to purchase raffle tickets and enjoy refreshment.
The second half brought the Voices of Yorkshire choir to the stage and we were entertained to a medley of great songs performed by the smiling singers aged from 21 to 91! The evening ended with them performing their new charity single, “Always There”.
It was a wonderful event, raising over £1,850 for Project Beacon and showcasing St Andrew’s as a great space for concerts like this. And how much more we will be able to do when the project is complete?!
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to help make the evening such a success. Thank you to the performers, to the Project Beacon Trustees, and the Market Place team for their many hours putting together this brilliant celebration of music.
